how we work together

Our work is both reflective and experiential.

We can understand ourselves incredibly well and still find ourselves stuck in the same patterns. That's because not everything shaping how we feel, choose, and respond is accessible through conscious thought alone.

Somatic coaching expands the conversation beyond what you think about an experience to include what you notice as you experience it. A conversation might uncover a belief you've carried for years; embodied inquiry might reveal the sensation, emotion, impulse, or nervous system response underneath it. Your body isn't more important than your mind - it's simply an equally valid source of information, and one many of us haven't learned how to listen to (that I’d argue, is the more important of the two ;)

From there, we work with what emerges. This might mean staying with a sensation, experimenting with movement, visualization or breath, or noticing what happens when you imagine a different choice.

This is where insight begins to become embodied rather than remaining conceptual. Instead of only understanding something differently, you have an opportunity to experience yourself differently - and gradually bring that experience into everyday life.

Over time, the work becomes less about finding clarity in a coaching session, therapy room, or yoga class, and more about having access to yourself on, as I like to reference, an ordinary Tuesday afternoon: noticing what's happening within you, staying in relationship with it, and having greater choice in how you respond.

Insight becomes experience. Experience becomes practice. And practice gradually becomes a different way of living.
